The iconic Children in Need initiative started on Christmas Day in 1972 in the format of a five-minute radio broadcast. The response was jaw dropping, and the money raised was split between 4 children’s charities.
To date, the BBC Children in Need Appeal has raised a staggering £800 million which has changed the lives of countless children across the UK. The 2,400 projects they fund help children facing a range of disadvantages, for example, poverty and deprivation; victims of abuse or neglect; and disabled young people.
This year we had the pleasure of supporting Radio 2’s 50th Anniversary Gala lunch, hosted by Michael Ball, in aid of BBC Children in Need with our flagship silent auction technology. This event raised a staggering £16,719 through the silent auction alone! This year’s BBC Children in Need Appeal will be hosted on November 17th at 7:30 pm (BST) on BBC One. As the stats below show, it’s paramount that we continue on the tradition of raising awareness for children in need and get involved!
